A few minutes away from the campsite there is l’Escala
The camp site Cala Montgó at Costa Brava has the privilege to be one of the camp sites best situated at Costa Brava for those who want to enjoy the landscape, the culture and the leisure of this area. The campsite Cala Montgó is situated very close to the town of L’Escala, a former fisherman center which today is considered to be one of the indispensable places for the tourism at Costa Brava. L’Escala has an unbeatable yachting harbor, an ancient fisherman picturesque center and the leisure of a tourist location.
The ruins of Empúries
Next to L’Escala there are the well-known ruins of Empúries, the first harbor of Costa Brava founded by the Greek. The ruins of Empúries being situated at the sea and in front of the beach constitute the archaeological first-magnitude monument, which is considered world heritage by the Unesco thanks to the beauty of the landscape and its historical value. Right next to the site there is a location of Sant Martí d’Empúries, a fortress by the beach with its medieval nature from the age of the crusades. All that makes the area around the campsite Cala Montgó at Costa Brava very special.
Cadaqués won Salvador Dali’s heart because of its typical landscape of Costa Brava, its special light and its popular architecture of the Mediterranean town. The visits and excursions to the area of Cap de Creus, close to Cadaqués, show the traveler the sheerest and the craggiest Costa Brava of the great beauty.
Roses and Figueres
To the north of the camp site Cala Montgó at Costa Brava you can find a town called Roses and the bay of Roses, the principal gulf of the Catalan coast with the distance of 15 km with the long beaches and the nature reserve of marshland of Empordà full of the luxuriant nature.
More to the north, in the direction towards France we can visit the town of Figueres, the cradle of the Catalan genius, Salvador Dalí. In Figueres there is the famous Museum Dalí, but to understand fully the personality and the inspiration of the painter one should visit his house at Costa Brava in Port Lligat and also the town of Cadaqués.
